SAP NetWeaver Engineering Introduction

When the available standard SAP functionality is not sufficient for your company you can build extra SAP functionality. This is what we call engineering. SAP consultants responsible for customizing and setting up SAP modules often encounter problems for which additional knowledge of SAP programming language, the dictionary or debugging facilities could prove to be helpful. This training module is aimed at SAP consultants to give them a basic understanding of ABAP, the programming environment and the debugging facilities.

Objectives This training module gives you an overview of the tools available in the ABAP Workbench. You will look at tables and development tools and test tools and development support. After this training the participant will be able to read ABAP programs, retrieve information about the definition of tables and their contents, be able to use the debugger. Further more will the participant recognize the different programming techniques (reporting, ABAP OO and transactions) and their differences. Prerequisites The participant should have knowledge and experience in SAP as a module consultant. Content The following subjects are part of this training module: Structure of the SAP environment for engineers Architecture Repository system Information system Finding help for engineers Workbench tools The ABAP dictionary The data browser Class browser Class builder The program editor Function builder The screenpainter The menupainter The debugger Transport system Trace & analysis tools Modifications The training module is available in SAP NetWeaver (version 2004s) in English.
