PRINCE2 Foundation English

Goal

The PRINCE2 Foundation course covers the basics of the PRINCE2 method. The training course is aimed at giving delegates an understanding of the philosophy behind the PRINCE2 method and is aimed at preparing delegates for the official PRINCE2 Foundation exam.

Participants

This course is suitable for project managers, team managers, project support staff, quality assurance staff and for anybody else who is somehow involved in participating or running one or more projects.

Course description

The PRINCE2 Foundation course is a 3 day program with the official PRINCE2 Foundation exam given at the end of the third day. (See page 2 for extensive course description). The training course is given in partnership with Stichting Partners In Business, an Accredited PRINCE2 Training organization. Key element in the PRINCE2 Foundation course is the PRINCE2 process model using the PRINCE2 Trigger Map. Delegates will be shown how the model is setup, how the different project activities and project roles are linked together and how PRINCE2 deals with exceptions that imminent to occur in any kind of project. During the PRINCE2 Foundation course delegates will learn how to set up a project management organization that is responsible for managing and planning the project. Delegates will be taught how to define the different project management roles to guarantee that the project is run in a most effective and efficient way. The method of 'management by exception'

will play a crucial role in handling project issues.

At the end of the course delegates can take the official PRINCE2 Foundation exam. If in a later stage delegates want to take the official PRINCE2 Practitioner exam they will have to have passed the PRINCE2 Foundation exam.

An accredited PRINCE2 trainer from Promista will give the training course. The course consists of a mix of theory and practical exercises. Most of the exercises will be done in small groups. The training materials are very complete. Every delegate receives a Pre-event manual, a PRINCE2 Event Manual with exercises and slides, the official PRINCE2 Trigger Map and access to PRINCE2train, a webbased tool to practise PRINCE2 foundation exam questions.

The PRINCE2 Foundation course will give you an answer to the following questions:

• How is the work divided between the Project Board and the Project Manager.

• How is the Project Manager going to issue work to Team Managers.

• How do Team Managers give assignments to members.

• How does the Project Manager keep informed about progress of work.

• How are products delivered back to the Project Manager by the Team Manager.

• How does the Project Manager handle issues and risks.

• How does the Project Manager communicate with the Project Board.

• How will the Project Board manage the project using Management By Exception.

• How is the project divided into stages and how are these stages managed.

• What does the Project Manager need to do to prepare the project closure documents.

• How can the Project Board close the project in a normal way and prematurely.
