International Executive MBA

The International Executive MBA (IMM) programme has been designed to accommodate the needs of senior executives with demanding schedules. The schedule therefore is less disruptive than the traditional bi-weekly schedule of class sessions, which allows participants greater freedom in scheduling meetings and travel.

Our Approach

The International Executive MBA (IMM) is a 'cohort' programme: all students in each class enter together, take a common set of courses together, and graduate together. This design makes it possible for the class sessions to be concentrated into a series of two-week residencies.

At the initial Orientation session, the participants are introduced to the programme courses, the faculty and staff, the business software applications used, and the internet-based communication and information retrieval system which is used to interact with the faculty and with each other between residencies.

The schedule of six concentrated two-week residential sessions interspersed throughout a two-year period allows participants to maintain their job responsibilities while they acquire the broad range of managerial skills which are needed to be effective in today's and tomorrow's dynamic and global business environment.

Programme participants study an integrated curriculum, drawing on the full range of functional areas of business and stressing the development of analytical skills. The emphasis is on decision-making, particularly as decisions are influenced by the global setting of business. The courses in the programme have an applied, policy-making orientation and use case studies and other experimental materials extensively. The use of the computer to support decision analysis is a key component of most courses.

Graduates earn a dual degree, i.e. both an American MBA degree (from Purdue University) and a European MBA degree (from either TiasNimbas Business School/Tilburg University or CEU Budapest, depending on the graduate's preference).

  • The applicant's previous academic record (completed baccalaureate or equivalent).
  • A minimum 5 years (average of 10-12 years) of work experience in positions of increasing responsibility / current position of significant responsibility.
  • Two recommendations.
  • The Test of English as a Foreign Language (TOEFL) (above 79; no specific sub-scores required) for all non-native speakers of English.
  • The Graduate Management Admissions Test (GMAT) (satisfactory score, i.e. >550).

Tuition and Expenses

Tuition fees for the International Executive MBA (IMM) programme are established jointly by the co-operating schools for each entering class, and are to be paid in three equal instalments. The programme fees are comprehensive in nature, i.e., they cover all instructional services, institutional costs, books and other course materials, as well as lodging and most meals during the residential sessions. When comparing EMBA programmes from different schools, be sure to find out what is and what is not included in the tuition fees. With many schools, various additional fees may apply.

This programme starts each spring - the 2010 entering class starts on 7 March 2010.

EMBA Class of 2008 Closes in European Style.
The sixth and final residential session of our EMBA (IMM) Class of 2008 was held over two weeks in September 2008 in Brussels (Belgium) and Tilburg (The Netherlands), with 37 participants from ten countries, four faculty from the USA and Belgium, and three special guest lecturers from European and global industry. 
On-campus instructional time is compressed into six two-week sessions ("residencies") interspersed over a two-year period.

The residencies in the three modules of the programme - each of which corresponds in course content roughly to an academic semester - rotate among the campuses of the four collaborating institutions (Purdue University, Tilburg University, Central European University in Budapest and GISMA Business School Hannover), with one in-residence in Asia.

Requirements

The admissions criteria for the International Executive MBA (IMM) programme include:

• Completion of a baccalaureate degree;
• A minimum of five years work experience in positions of increasing professional responsibility;
• A current position of significant responsibility;
• Two letters of recommendation;
• GMAT score if submitted to enhance application materials.
