DESCRIPTION
This course investigates the classification and categorisation of resources within both the SEC and the SPE-PRMS systems. Using case studies, the course rigorously studies the boundaries between class and category when assessing resources for management and financial disclosure.
The resource estimation toolkit, using volumetric, decline curve, material balance and reservoir simulation, methods is described. Practical exercises and illustrations of the pitfalls and issues in resource categorisation are illustrated by examples.

DESIGNED FOR YOU, IF YOU ARE...
A mid to senior level engineer or geoscientist who wishes to understand better the principles and practice of reserves and resource reporting.
HOW WE BUILD YOUR CONFIDENCE
This is a three-session online course with lectures supported and illustrated by worked examples, case studies and follow-up exercises and quizzes to give assurance that key learnings are accomplished.
THE BENEFITS FROM ATTENDING
By the end of the course you will feel confident in:
- Understanding different resource reporting methodologies, particularly the PRMS and SEC protocols
- Evaluating the differing categories and classes of reserves and resources
- Assessing the volumetric derivation of resources and reserves, both deterministically and probabilistically
- Appraising the limitations of resource assessment methods
- Assuring resource assessments by integrating the relationship between volumes, development plans and economics
