This online course aims to provide students with knowledge into the state-of-the-art in interpersonal neuroscience, basic research skills and tools for developing applications of interpersonal neuroscience for artistic contexts.

The emerging field of interpersonal neuroscience has developed powerful and innovative methods, like hyper scanning (collecting brain activity from multiple people simultaneously), motion tracking, and mobile physiological measurements. These methods allow researchers and artists to explore the dynamic interplay between the brains and bodies of people while they either experience or create art together, such as dance, music, or cinema.

In this online course, we will explore the emerging field of interpersonal neuroscience in live artistic contexts through interactive interdisciplinary lectures, group discussions, and hands-on activities.

Who should join?

Primarily PhD candidates, master students and professionals in (social) psychology, (social-cognitive and cognitive) neuroscience. Interested participants from other, related, backgrounds are also welcome, such as linguistics, engineering, and interaction technology. Advanced Bachelor students (Honors students) who intend to write their thesis about the topic are welcome as well. The course is intensive and requires active participation and strong motivation.

If you have doubts about your eligibility for the course, please contact us: graduatewinterschool@vu.nl.
