"The Agile Coach Bootcamp was a transformative experience for me. I had read in the discription that it catapults your Agile Coaching skills to a new level, and it definitely delivers on that promis. The bootcamp doesn’t just focus on agile frameworks, ceremonies and artifacts. It dives deeper into the mindset and the values of Agile, into understanding yourself first as a scrum master/coach.
The bootcamp starts with two days revolving around facilitation. There you learn tools to use before, during and after the meetings you facilitate. The parts that stood out the most to me were the actions I should take to set myself up for success even before I step into the meeting room. And during the meeting, how to stay aware of the dynamics and identify/address dysfunctional behavior. Finally, how to make sure to provide the right closure for the meeting.
The last three days focus on the Agile coaching. How to look at the organizational and team mindset, practices, relationships and environment. The importance of emotional intelligence and the nuances between teaching, coaching, mentoring and facilitating. The part that stood out for me was how important it is for us as coaches and facilitators, to maintain outcome neutrality. To be able to identify situations that need us to provide answers versus situations that need us to ask powerful questions.
And what ties it up all together, is that you get to see the faculty embody what they teach. You not only get to practice with your classmates, but you also get to see how it works when done right.
