Introduction
In this training you will learn the essentials of building a modern Quarkus application from scratch, leveraging its cloud-native capabilities and developer-friendly features. This can be a microservice or complete application as Quarkus is not limited to microservices. You’ll explore Quarkus’ latest features including Dev Services for effortless development setup and Continuous Testing for rapid feedback loops.

Detailed description
Quarkus is designed to work with popular Java standards, frameworks, and libraries like Eclipse MicroProfile and Spring as well as Apache Kafka, RESTEasy (JAX-RS), Hibernate ORM (JPA), Spring, Infinispan, Camel, and many more. In this training you will build a banking application that uses most of the essential frameworks you’ll encounter in real-world development like RESTEasy, Hibernate and REST clients. You’ll experience Quarkus’ revolutionary developer experience with features like live reload, Dev Services that automatically provision databases and messaging systems, and Continuous Testing that runs your tests automatically as you code. When the day is over you should be able to build a microservice and call that from the main application that also handles the UI and data storage, all while leveraging Quarkus’ modern development workflow.

About the trainer
Alexei is a senior software engineer at OpenValue with over 15 years of experience in Java development and consulting. He specializes in building cloud-native applications and microservices using Quarkus, Spring Boot, and MicroProfile. Throughout his career, he has held various technical leadership roles including dev lead, technical architect, and DevOps engineer across multiple domains such as information security, telecommunications, and automotive.

As an active contributor to the Quarkus ecosystem, Alexei has made contributions to several open-source projects including dbunit, database-rider, junit5-kubernetes, smallrye-reactive-messaging, and Quarkus itself. He is passionate about optimizing development workflows and helping teams adopt best practices in continuous delivery, test-driven development, and clean code.

Alexei brings a wealth of practical experience to his training sessions, drawing from his extensive background in both backend and frontend development. His teaching approach focuses on practical, real-world scenarios and helping developers create maintainable, high-quality applications with Quarkus.
