Semester 1: International Reputation and International Brand Management
In semester 1, the program focuses on communication in two
domains: 'International Reputation Management' and 'International
Brand Management'. The curriculum emphasizes the study of
international organizations as communicators across various
business and Not-for-Profit sectors. The program includes
cutting-edge critical approaches to intercultural facilitation and
international communication in both teaching and research. Students
learn from an international team that includes experienced
researchers and committed practitioners. Teaching involves
face-to-face and directed learning.

Semester 2: Sustainability Communication and Digital Innovation
In semester 2 students take specialization courses here at Hanze
UAS. We offer advanced courses around two central themes:
'Sustainability Communication' and 'Digital Innovation'. Students
will be offered the opportunity to participate in Innovation labs,
putting theory and research to practice in close collaboration with
the professional field and the professorship. Furthermore, students
will also be introduced to the Future Literacy Knowlab, an
intensive program that introduces new ways of looking at current
day communication issues.

- Organizational Issues and Crisis Communication
- Intercultural Facilitation & Futures Literacy Training
- Personal Leadership
- Sustainable Labs
Semester 3: The dissertation
The third semester consists of a Graduation Project: a master's dissertation. The master's dissertation is a consultancy-based project, which allows students to become an expert in the area of their career interests as a communication professional. The students can carry out this project either at or for international organizations in a form of an internship and/or as a consultant, or remain inhouse and carry out a project for an Innovation Lab. The thesis builds on all knowledge, practical experience and competences gained during the previous two semesters.
Admission requirements
The applicant must have:
A Bachelor's degree in the following relevant
fields:
- Marketing
- PR
- Business
- Management
- Communication
- Humanities
- Social Sciences
- Linguistic
A certificate of proof of a sufficient proficiency in the English language*:
- IELTS with a minimum overall score of 6.5 with no subscores below 6, or:
- TOEFL ibt with a minimum overall score of 90 with minimum 18 in Reading, 17 in Listening, 20 in Speaking and 17 in Writing, or;
- CAE with a minimum grade of C.
- Your IELTS, TOEFL ibt or CAE should not be older than 2 years at the time of applying.
*Applicant with a Bachelor’s diploma from the Netherlands
can declare the cost of the necessary IELTS/TOEFL test (for the
purpose of applying for the MIC program) with the Hanze UAS, once
enrolled officially as a student in September. This can be done by
sending the receipt to mic@org.hanze.nl.
You don't need to prove your knowledge of
English:
- If you are a national of and/or you have completed your Bachelor's program (as a full-time student on campus) in one of the following countries: Australia, Canada, Ireland, New Zealand, UK, USA.
- If you have obtained a Bachelor's diploma in a 3 or 4 years of fully English-taught program. Proof is required and additional documents might be required.
Graduation profile
As a graduate of the Master in International Communication you are trained to become an interculturally competent communication professional able to work in a global context. You are able to anticipate on changes and develop, implement and manage sustainable and innovative solutions to communication issues. As a graduate, you will have the skills and knowledge needed to work at managerial or consultancy level.
