Students with a BSc degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical
Engineering, or Applied physics obtained at TU/e, Delft University
of Technology or Twente University of Technology can be directly
admitted. Make sure to register in Studielink before May 1st.
If you have another relevant University BSc degree and you would
like to receive more information about admission and other
requirements, please consult this website:
https://www.tue.nl/en/education/become-a-tue-student.To be admitted
to the Master's program AI&ES you will have to meet the
following criteria:
Knowledge and skills acquired from a BSc level research university
degree, equal to a Dutch university BSc degree level.
Knowledge of basic concepts of Engineering Systems (calculus,
linear algebra, probability and statistics, design-optimization,
signals, systems and applied physics)
Knowledge of basic concepts of Algorithms and Data Structures
(linear algebra, probability and statistics, data-analysis,
data-mining, programming, computer-architecture, logics, databases,
data-structures, data science)
Knowledge of basics concepts of social context (ethics, cognition,
social impact of technique)
Graduates of the Master AI&ES are technical specialists in an engineering area and in Artificial Intelligence who can design reliable innovative systems at the interface between these two areas with a good view on the multi-disciplinarity of this engineering field. They have specialized into one of the 6 tracks of the program, High-tech systems and Robotics, Mobility, Health applications, Smart cities, Science and Discovery and, Manufacturing systems.
You can enroll in the regular way via Studielink, or if you are an international student, through the university website (https://www.tue.nl/en/education/become-a-tue-student/).The deadline to enroll is May 1st, for all students.
This master program is highly interdisciplinary.
The Master's Program AI&ES is a two-year program, consisting
of 120 EC, divided into the following components:
Year 1 Core courses 30 EC
Specialization elective courses 20 EC
Interdisciplinary Team project 10 EC
Year 2 Free elective courses 15 EC
Graduation project 45 EC
Track relatedThe core courses are all scheduled in the first year
of the program. We distinguish six relevant topics:
- Tracks: select a specialization track. There are six tracks:
High-Tech Systems & Robotics – Mobility – Healthcare - Smart
Cities - Science and Discovery - Manufacturing Systems
- Core Courses: follow six courses, which offer you a broad, and
solid basis in both AI&ES, covering the topics: Data science,
Programming, Human interaction & ethics, Engineering
systems,
Learning in AI, and Mathematics.
- Specialization elective courses. By selecting these courses, you
develop in-depth knowledge and skills preparatory for a specific
graduation direction.
- Free elective courses: give you the opportunity to shape your
program to your own interests. Select courses from all TU/e
master's programs or other universities.
- Interdisciplinary Team Project: a Challenge-Based-Learning
project. You will collaborate in track teams to apply your
knowledge on AI&ES to resolve real-life practical engineering
problems.
- Graduation Project: an individual research project on a track
related AI&ES topic.
Various companies are supporting this master program. Graduates with the profile of the AI&ES master are in high demand in the Brainport region, at national as well as at international scale.

In some situations, there are specific additional requirements to
resolve deficiencies, the form and weight of which depends on the
learning outcomes and contents of your BSc program. Deficiencies
with respect to the AI&ES admission criteria can potentially be
resolved in an AI&ES pre-master program or through
homologation.
