Berna de Boer

After completing my ‘kandidaats’ degree in Dutch and ‘doctoraal’ degree in Applied Linguistics in Groningen, I worked on a teaching materials project, contributed to expertise enhancement for volunteers teaching Dutch to non-native speakers, and taught Dutch to Iranians. In 1986 I started teaching at the Institute of Applied Linguistics of the University of Groningen,which turned into the Language Centre two years later. I’ve been working there ever since as a lecturer of NT2 and am now also head of the Dutch Section, which I really enjoy! Our working field is expanding due to a growing demand among international students as well as native speakers, in both professional and academic contexts, for training in Dutch communication and writing skills.
